Saturday 11th July – Bike ***** Two rivers – sunny

What a top start to the day:) up at 5:45 pack breakfast (Danish Pastry) and a flask and set off on our bikes at 6! We start off heading down to the prom, turning right toward Landguard, then through Felixstowe dock – nice and quiet on a Saturday to Cordys Lane. It was then along our very favourite tree lined path to Levington coming out near Loompit Lake with geese on the path, swans and grebes on the River Orwell :) We stop on a seat in the marina for our breakfast watching marina life before continuing along the River path to Levington Creek with loads of lovely ginger Godwits on the islands with the tide nearly in! We ride past the sign on the far side of Levington Creek saying no bikes :( and are told off by the path police – a lady walking her dog!!! Ignoring her we continue along the fantastic up and down river path, past Pin Mill to Nacton Shores spotting several Green Wood peckers! We stop at Nacton Shores for some cherries Mag picked in the week from The Grove:) Then along the road to Nacton, over the A14 to Bucklesham across a bridle track to Kirton and down past Kings fleet to the River Deben coming out at Felixstowe Ferry. The jetty was very busy with families crabbing, the sailing club rescue boats getting ready for racing, dinghies being launched and the ferry very busy transporting lots of cyclists across the river :) It was along the beach path to The Dip and home – a top top early morning 23 mile, out for over 4 hours! I then have my porridge, check the weather – 12 knots nw so I take the gear to The Dip.
